What to Expect with Your Hearing Exam at Texan Renew Hearing Center

Hi, I’m Denise Kopcki, National Board Certified Hearing Specialist. When I started my career in the hearing healthcare industry 10 years ago, it was not because I always dreamed of helping people hear or maintaining the wax in their ears. It actually started because of my Gran.

My dad’s mother was a school teacher. Her and my grandad were married nearly 50 years and for 38 of those years he worked for Nasa. This meant she was known for entertaining everyone from astronauts and rocket scientists to eleven-year-old boys and girls.

When I was visiting her in my early twenties, I started to notice that she was more withdrawn or agitated whenever we would visit. She also would start talking over us or her answers to questions we would ask didn’t quite match up and it seemed like there was something off.

Many times when talked to her about what was going on with her hearing, she would just say “It’s nothing. This is just what happens when you get older. There’s nothing that can be done.”

Not taking no for an answer, I started looking to see that was really the true case. Originally getting started in this industry, I wanted to know if there really wasn’t anything that could be done.

Over the last ten years I’ve learned a lot of things. Some of which is that hearing loss is as unique as your fingerprint. This means that what may work for one person may not work for another.

We will do a complete comprehensive diagnostic hearing test. With that, we will also explain it in terms that you’ll understand. It’s important to us that we explain things not just in the fancy medical terms, but in terms that will help you understand of what’s going on and why it’s happening.
